Ahoi Ashtami 2025: Date, Auspicious Time, Puja Vidhi and Astrological Remedies

Ahoi Ashtami 2025 is an important Hindu fast that holds immense spiritual and emotional significance. Dedicated to the welfare of children, it is observed with great faith and devotion by mothers who pray for their children’s long life, health, and prosperity. This sacred fast falls on the Ashtami tithi of Krishna Paksha in Kartik month, observed every year just four days after Karwa Chauth.

Now Let’s Understand Ahoi Ashtami 2025 in Detail:-

What is Ahoi Ashtami?

Ahoi Ashtami represents a mother’s selfless devotion and unconditional love. On this day, women observe a nirjala vrat (fast without food or water) from sunrise until the evening. Throughout the day, they worship Goddess Ahoi Mata and seek her blessings for the safety and happiness of their children.

The fast is broken in the evening after offering arghya (water) to the stars. Much like Karwa Chauth, which is observed for a husband’s well-being, Ahoi Ashtami is dedicated to the welfare and longevity of children.

Significance and Benefits

Ahoi Ashtami vrat is believed to bestow both spiritual and family-oriented blessings. It ensures the protection of children as mothers are blessed with their good health and long life. For childless couples, devotion to Ahoi Mata may bring the gift of progeny. The rituals and storytelling associated with the vrat also foster family bonding and social unity. On a spiritual level, observing the nirjala fast purifies the mind and body, while on a household level, performing this vrat in the sacred month of Kartik is said to bring peace, prosperity, and overall abundance to the family.

Ahoi Ashtami Katha (The Legend)

The story narrates the tale of a merchant’s daughter-in-law who once dug soil in the forest on Kartik Ashtami. By mistake, she injured a baby porcupine, leading to its death. Enraged by this act, Goddess Ahoi cursed her, causing her children to die one after another.

In her grief, she sought guidance from sages, who instructed her to observe Ahoi Mata’s vrat with full devotion and repentance. She sincerely performed the fast, worshipped the goddess, and prayed with faith. Pleased with her devotion, Goddess Ahoi forgave her and rewarded her by reviving her children.

Since then, mothers observe this vrat every year, praying for the long life, safety, and prosperity of their children.
